What is a static website?
A static website is a website that designed much like an online catalog, where websites visitor can browse and view the various pages of the site with very limited user interaction. Updating static websites, or modifying any of the website page(s) content requires the modification of the code embedded in the webpage files. A person who will update the website will need to have some web programming language(s) skills, such as HTML, Java, CSS, etc…

Why go static?
Generally speaking, and as can be inferred by looking at our Star Packages vs. Pro Star Packages, static websites are more cost-efficient for the website owner. If a budget allocated for website design is limited, a static website will be more likely to fit into your budget. If your website also requires very minimal updating, along the lines of not more than twice or three times a year, then a static website would more appropriately address your online-presence needs.

Any limitations for designing a static website?
Yes. There are limitations when designing and developing a static website. For starters, the website cannot be modified by someone without web programming language skills. The modification of the website will require delving into the code embedded on each of the website pages. Static websites are usually designed by firms that supply maintenance contracts to allow website owners a specified number of updates / time period.

Another limitation of static websites is their lack of interactivity. When dynamic websites are developed, a lot of interactive content can be applied to the pages of the website. User interaction on static websites is, generally speaking, limited to the submitting of a Contact Us mail form, or uploading (attaching) a file (ex. CV / image).

If I design a static website now, can I upgrade to a Dynamic CMS website in the future?
You may wish to upgrade your static website to a dynamic website at any given point in time. However, upgrading to a CMS website is not as simple, at our end, as clicking an upgrade button. Because CMS websites are built differently from the ground up, upgrading a static website to a dynamic website requires major recoding and code-structural fixing. That goes to say that you can upgrade your static site to a dynamic site at a discounted price.

What is a Content Management System?
A Content Management System (CMS) is a dynamic website’s control panel that can be accessed by an administrator (website owner) for website content management. The content management system is an easy to use interface by which any average computer user can view and edit the contents of the website. Since the administrative control panel of the CMS is accessed via an internet connection and generally resides in the same location as the website itself, any modifications done using the CMS are updated instantly where the changes made are directly reflected online.

A CMS is basically the tool through which an average user can view and modify almost all of the contents on their website. If one is familiar with blog engines such as Blogspot, the CMS control panel is much like the control panel accessed when signing into one’s blog.

What is a blog?

Do you provide the design files (Adobe Illustrator “.ai”) once the design is complete?
Of course. We provide all our customers who have designed with Kowny with the design files. That makes it easier for a company to edit, re-print, or modify the designed files if required in the future.

I already have a domain name
If you already have a domain name, Kowny can transfer that domain name to its hosting servers. We recommend that all websites designed by Kowny also be hosted at Kowny for optimum support. If a user does not wish to purchase a hosting plan from Kowny and wishes to host somewhere else, that is also possible.

The domain name I want is not available.
If the domain name you are looking for is not available or has already been registered by someone else, try looking for variations of the domain name to find one that is most suitable.

I wish to buy a .com.jo domain name.
If you are interested in purchasing a .com.jo domain name, please note that registering .com.jo domain names needs to be done through the Jordanian DNS offices located in Amman. Legal papers proving that the domain name you wish to purchase is the name of the business entity you own / belong to are required. As well, .com.jo domain names are more expensive than .com / .net / .org and other international domain names. We can assist you in your purchase and registration of your .com.jo domain names. The domain name I want is available… now what?
Contact us so that we may register your domain for you right away. Purchase and registration of a domain name take less than 24 hours. So in less than 1 day, you can be closer to securing your domain name.

If I buy a domain name, can I create accounts @ my domain?
Yes. You will however need to either purchase a website hosting package, where you will receive web-space for your website as well as a number of different email accounts. Or, you can choose an email hosting package where you only purchase (at a lower cost) email accounts with a specified amount of storage.

I don’t want email accounts or website hosting. Can I just buy and reserve a domain name for later use?
Sure. You can buy and reserve a domain name for future use. You do not have to buy web or email hosting packages with your domain name. And when the time is right you can activate (purchase) web / email hosting for your desired domain.

If I buy domains in bulk, do I get a discount?
Yes. You are entitled to a 10% discount on your purchase of 5 domain names. If you purchase 10 or more domain names, you will be entitled to a 25% discount.

How do I know which package is right for me?
For starters, check that the number of email accounts that you need and find a package that provides with sufficient email accounts. Next, check if the space allocated for your website hosting is enough for the amount of content you plan to have on your website. Also, if you are planning to design and develop a dynamic website, you will need a MySQL / MS-SQL database to be associated with your website; in that case, the Basic Hosting Package will not work for you. You can always contact us for further assistance.

If I buy a Basic or Corporate Hosting Package, can I upgrade in the future?
You can upgrade your hosting package at any time. You will be charged a special fee depending on how much time has elapsed since your hosting was last renewed.

Can I setup my emails using a Mail Client such as Outlook Express, Microsoft Outlook, or Windows Mail?
Of course. We will provide you with settings that you need in order to setup your email accounts using any POP3 Mail Client. You can even setup to receive and send your emails using Gmail (Google Mail) or other free email providers that allow importing POP3 mail from other accounts.

Can I get more than 100MB per inbox?
Keep in mind that when using a Desktop Mail Client for retrieving and sending your, such as Outlook Express, Microsoft Outlook, Windows Mail, etc… your inbox is emptied on a regular basis. For that reason it may be safe to assume that 100MB should be sufficient. If However you desire a larger inbox / email account, that is also possible. Contact us and we will be glad to provide you with more information.

If I purchase a Regular or Super Email Hosting Package, can I upgrade at a later time?
Yes. If you realize that you need to upgrade to a larger Email Hosting Package at any point in time simply contact us and we will be glad to upgrade you for a special fee.

If I upgrade my Email Hosting Package, do I lose emails existing in any / all of my created accounts?
No you will not lose any emails if you decide to upgrade your Email Hosting Package. Your emails will be safe and sound as our upgrade will not delete or remove any of the emails or email accounts that you already have setup.

I am having problems setting up my Mail Client with the settings you have provided. How can I get help?
First of all, please make sure that you are correctly following the steps provided to you by Kowny for setting up your email accounts with a Mail Client. Contact us and provide us with your contact details and we will get back to you with further live assistance.

I need more email accounts than is provided in your Mega Email Hosting Package.
If you need more than 50 email accounts we can customize a special Email Hosting Package that is just right for you.

I have a domain name already that I did not purchase from Kowny. Can I still buy an Email Hosting Package?
Yes you can have your emails hosted at Kowny even if you purchased your domain name from somewhere else. In this case, we need to modify the MX-Record (Mail Exchange) settings that can be accessed by visiting the administrative control panel for your domain name at the website from which you purchased it.
